Intense, volle droge riesling gemaakt van druiven uit het grand cru perceel Würzburg Stein.
The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® STEIN (Würzburg) is just as famous as it is steep. The curved vineyard that thrones above Würzburg has a nearly Mediterranean climate. Not only do the slopes lie between 210 and 285 metres a.s.l. with a south to southeast exposition that is advantageous for collecting light and warmth, the yellow-grey weathered shell limestone with clayey loam and humus-rich fine earth also reflects light. In addition, the Main as well stores the heat. The slopes are mostly terraced and have up to a 65 percent gradient. Silvaner, Riesling and Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) grow here. History: Wines from the Stine site have been known for many, many years as „Steinwein“. This was Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s favourite wine. He wrote that he “never wants to taste other wine” and that it makes him “morose” when his “favourite beverage is missing”. The wines have an extraordinary capacity for aging. A Würzburger Stein wine from the year 1540 was possibly the oldest wine opened that was still enjoyable to drink.
